May 10th, 2014 Special Guest: Sid Miller

On Saturday, May 10th, 2014, The Curtis Report will be joined by Mr. Sid Miller, Candidate for Texas Agriculture Commissioner. Mr. Miller will join the show to discuss his current campaign as well as his plans once elected into office. As a true rural Texas, Sid Miller has a strong dedication to the people of Texas as well as being a staunch defender of The 2nd Amendment, a proven Pro-Life leader, a conservative constitutionalist, a fiscal conservative and taxpayer champion.

Mr. Miller will join The Curtis Report to inform our listeners of his plans to lower unemployment while boosting the economy, tightening our border security, cutting government spending, and strengthening family and religious freedoms across the state of Texas.

A brief bio on Mr. Sid Miller:

Former State Representative Sid Miller is recognized as one of the state’s most dynamic and effective conservative leaders.

As a 6 term veteran of the Texas House, Sid worked to put his real world experience as a small businessman, community leader, agriculturist, former schoolteacher, and former school board member to use on behalf of the people of Texas. Sid Miller emerged as the definitive pro-life, pro-family, pro-business, pro-jobs leader during his tenure in the Texas Legislature.

In the 82nd Session, Sid Miller was the author of HB 15, the so-called “pro-life” sonogram measure. The resulting measure signed into law by Governor Perry gives Texas the strongest sonogram law in the nation and Miller’s efforts to protect human life and prevent countless abortions from being performed. Miller has been historically endorsed by Texas Right to Life.

Sid Miller is also recognized as one Texas’ staunchest defenders of our constitutional freedoms and 2nd Amendment rights. That is why Representative Sid Miller has been historically endorsed in every election that he has run in by both the National and Texas State Rifle Associations.

Sid Miller was a founding member of the Legislative Tea Party Caucus along with being selected by his Republican colleagues to serve as Chairman, Vice-Chairman, and Secretary of the House Republican Caucus and because of his extensive knowledge and work in agriculture, Miller was chosen to work directly with the Texas Department of Agriculture Commissioner as a member of the State Agriculture Policy Board. Miller was also selected to represent Texas on the State Agricultural and Rural Leaders Association.

Miller also served as Chairman of the House Committee on Homeland Security and Public Safety which has direct oversight over the Texas Rangers, Department of Public Safety, and emergency management for the state, along with handling all gun legislation. Miller helped direct the state’s response to the federal government’s failure to protect our nation’s borders and he has become a strong and respected voice on border security issues and the threat posed by our porous international border with Mexico. He has previously served as Chairman and Vice-Chairman of the House Agriculture and Livestock Committee which has direct oversight over the Texas Commissioner of Agriculture. Miller also served as Vice-Chairman of the House State Affairs committee.

Sid Miller is also an avid rodeo and horseshow participant and lays claim to 9 World Championships. He is an honors graduate of Tarleton State University in Stephenville where he received a Bachelor of Science in Vocational Agriculture Education Degree in 1978.

Representative Miller and his wife of 36 years, Debra, live in Stephenville where Sid owns and operates his nursery business of 31 years and where Debra founded two charter schools. Sid and Debra Miller have two sons and two grandchildren. Their oldest son, Truett, teaches and coaches in Omaha, Texas while his wife Natasha cares for Sid’s grandson, Slade. Their youngest son, Joseph, is a firefighter in Abilene and his wife Kellie is a sonographer. They are the parents of Sid’s granddaughter, Mabry. The Millers are active members of the Erath County Cowboy Church, where Sid serves as an Elder.
